This week rehearsals began for my University final production '3 winters' by Tena Stivicic. 3 winters circulates around 4 generations of Croatian women from the 'Kos family' and the lengths they have gone to for survival physically, politically and socially.

Personally, this play is so inspirational both as an actor but also as an individual. Tena explores so many themes within this play that help to create such detailed and layered characters the audience is able to fall in love with, laugh at and relate to. I feel as if this piece is so important in regards to the current social climate of the world, and therefore I can't wait to start developing as the weeks progress.

Week 1

Within our very first rehearsals social, political and environmental context has been thoroughly explored and discussed as a cast. This academic approach has set a very steady foundation for character work to begin, as it has really informed me in great detail who these people are, what they are doing, what they stand for and the politics surrounding where they are currently living.

At the end of the week the cast list was announced which was very exciting but daunting. I received the role Lucija Kos who is in the fourth generation of women, and the sister of Alisa. The sister relationship is something I am very excited to explore as it is very relatable and realistic, yet something very complex with subliminal context hiding beneath the surface. I am very ready to push myself over the next coming weeks to work extremely hard and perform to the best of my ability. Bring on next week!

Week 2

Stepping into week two I personally felt very prepared and connected to my character through the deep contextual and academic foundation week one created for me. This week flew by and rehearsals were over before I knew it.

This week I set personal goals to prove myself wrong and step outside of my acting comfort zone. Due to my previous training and preferred acting roles, comedy is quite daunting for me. However, I tried my best to embrace this and face my fear by focusing all my attention into every scene and line my character delivered. Despite the technicalities and training involved surrounding comedy, this week I took a more internal focus on having fun and not judging myself or the character. By doing so this has really helped me open up and be more playful and willing to try new 'scary' things within rehearsal to help me embody the character of Lucija fully.
